Raising A Reader

Raising A Reader is an award-winning early literacy initiative that is available to Martin and Pitt county child care centers. Through a grant from the Martin/Pitt Partnership for Children, qualified child care centers, enrolled children ages 3 to 5 and their families will learn more about the importance of reading. The program includes classroom activities, rotating take-home book bags and local library involvement.

We partner with eligible providers to encourage early literacy skills by holding weekly classroom literacy readings and activities, literacy events in the community, technical support for teachers and parents, as well as rotating quality age-appropriate take-home book bags and local library involvement.
