State of the Young Child luncheon sees fantastic turnout

The Martin-Pitt Partnership for Children had a wonderful turnout to its 5th Annual State of the Young Child on April 26th. Nearly 100 community members, elected officials, and business owners joined the Partnership in a discussion and presentation on the importance of investing in early childhood education.

The Partnership was beyond grateful to have Dr. Adrian Wood and Mr. Michael Bonner as its featured speakers, both of whom have an intense passion for children and the importance of educating the children in our community.

Wood, an author, early childhood researcher, wife, and mother to four children including one with extra special needs — and so much more! — spoke on her experiences working in early childhood education. Her work and research has included the availability of quality, age-appropriate, affordable child care in relation to the successes of children as they move into adulthood.

Bonner, a second grade teacher at South Greenville Elementary, is well-known in the area for his unique musical approach to teaching, something that earned him two appearances on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

We are so thankful to Dr. Wood and Mr. Bonner for taking time out of their busy schedules to join us for such an important conversation in our community. For more information, please visit Dr. Wood’s blog and Mr. Bonner’s video.
