About Us

Who We Are

Incredible brain development occurs during the first five years of life and early childhood experiences literally build the foundation for future learning. The Martin-Pitt Partnership for Children funds programs in early literacy, quality early child care and learning, assistance finding child care services, parent and family support, and health care during the first 2,000 days of a child’s life — the time from birth until they arrive for their first day of Kindergarten.

Ninety percent of a child’s brain growth occurs in that time period — we have 2,000 days to get it right.

Program Assessment

This program evaluates every program funded by the Martin/Pitt Partnership for Children.

All 78 Partnership for Children offices across North Carolina submit their data to the North Carolina Partnership for Children (NCPC) in Raleigh. NCPC uses this statewide data to create an annual report that is submitted to the NC General Assembly so legislators can gauge the impact of Smart Start services across the state.

We are committed to making improvements in family support, health, and early care and education for children and their families. Check out our latest Annual Report for more information.
